HELMET
CARE

The main object of every rider’s attention is, without a doubt, his or her motorbike; and regular checks, from tyres to fluids, from the battery to the bodywork, are essential to ensure its proper functioning and highest performance.

Racing with your motorbike, however, also means wearing the equipment that guarantees the right mix of technicality, comfort and safety. The helmet, in all this, is a fundamental element. To maintain its characteristics and not compromise its degree of protection for the rider, it is necessary to take care of it in the best possible way.

 How? We’ll explain.

Cleaning the exterior

The shell of Premier Helmets should only be cleaned with mild soap and water. The use of other types of cleaning agents may damage both the paint and the structure, and may reduce the degree of protection provided by the helmet itself.

For cleaning, we recommend using microfibre cloths and avoiding applying too much pressure when rubbing matt surfaces. This is to avoid creating a shiny effect and ruining the helmet’s appearance.

Interior Cleaning

We are often asked: ‘Can I clean the inside of my helmet?’. The answer is yes. The insides of all Premier Helmets products are removable (as also stated in the ‘Instruction Manual’) and should be washed with lukewarm water and mild soap.

The inside of the visor should only be cleaned using soft microfibre cloths, moistened if necessary, so as not to damage the active anti-fog coating.

It should be noted that the anti-fog treatment is subject to wear and tear and that, in particularly critical atmospheric situations with high humidity, the performance of this treatment may be impaired. If the fogging problem persists, we recommend replacing the component.

Helmets customisation

We are well aware of the desire to give an extra touch of personality to one’s helmet with lettering and stickers that say something about us. However, we advise against customisation: we know that glues, paints, fixing sprays or aggressive solvents can irreparably damage both the transparent layer that protects the graphics and the shell itself.

Cleaning of air intakes

Maintaining the integrity of Premier Helmets motorbike helmets also involves cleaning the air intakes. Dirt and debris can build up inside them. In this case, we recommend using the compressed air canisters usually used for cleaning computer keyboards for cleaning.

Helmet storage

Storing your helmet improperly can damage it, reducing its degree of protection and thus increasing the risks to your safety in the event of an accident.

For this reason, our advice is to store your helmet in a dry place, away from hot surfaces and out of reach of pets.
